Learn to code
by writing real code.

Short daily lessons where you build real things — websites, APIs, a programming language, an AI — right in your browser. Go from your first line of code to engineering at scale.

Why Sikau

The fastest way from reading about code to writing it

Every lesson ends with you running code, not watching someone else do it.

Real code, real feedback

Write JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, SQL, React and shell commands. Every exercise is checked the moment you run it.

Nothing to install

Editors, databases, terminals and compilers all run in your browser — on a laptop or your phone.

Small steps that stick

Short explanations, then predict, order and match exercises that make you think before you type.

Reviews at the right time

Lessons come back for a quick review just as you're about to forget them, so ideas stay with you.

A habit, not a chore

Daily streaks, XP, levels and badges make it easy to come back tomorrow — even for ten minutes.

Certificates you can share

Finish a course to earn a certificate with a verified link that anyone can check.

Build real things

Projects worth putting in your portfolio

Each stage ends in a project that pulls everything together.

Build an interpreter

Your own programming language

A lexer, a Pratt parser and an evaluator — with closures and loops you add yourself.

A search engine

A search engine

Autocomplete, an inverted index, ranking and spelling correction.

Artificial intelligence

An unbeatable game player

Minimax with alpha-beta pruning, an 8-puzzle solver and a neuron that learns.

The café front end

A café's web app

A React front end that grows into a full Next.js app.

A secure API gateway

A secure API gateway

Networking, WebAssembly sandboxes and security working together.

Go

A concurrent log analyser

Goroutines, channels and table-driven tests in Go.

Learning paths

Follow a path, or jump in anywhere

Three paths take you stage by stage. Already know the basics? Open any course directly.

Questions

Good to know

Is Sikau free?

Yes. Sign in with Google and every course, exercise and certificate is open to you.

Do I need any experience?

No. Start with HTML or JavaScript from zero. If you already code, jump straight into React, Go, AI or system design — every lesson can be opened when you're ready.

How much time does it take?

A lesson takes 20–40 minutes, in small steps you can pause at any point. Choose one or two a day, or go at your own pace.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Code runs right in the page: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, SQL databases, React, Git and a Linux shell.

Will my progress follow me?

Yes. Your lessons, streak, badges and code are saved to your account and sync to every device you sign in on.
