Every web page starts here
Every page you've ever visited is built from HTML: a language that labels content — this is a heading, this is a paragraph, this is a link. Browsers read those labels and show the page. No HTML, no web.
Elements and tags
- <h1> is an opening tag, </h1> the closing tag (with a slash).
- Tags plus the content between them make an element.
- Elements can contain other elements: <strong> sits inside the <p>.
- The browser ignores extra spaces and line breaks in your HTML.
