What's inside a web page?
When you open a website, your browser receives some files and turns them into the page you see. Today you'll peek inside and meet the three languages every page is made of.
Three languages, three jobs
A house: HTML is the walls and rooms — the structure. CSS is the paint, curtains and furniture — how it looks. JavaScript is the electricity — lights that switch on, a doorbell that rings. It makes things happen.
- HTML — what's on the page: headings, paragraphs, buttons, pictures.
- CSS — how it looks: colours, sizes, spacing, fonts.
- JavaScript — what it does: reacting to clicks, changing text, loading data.
You'll mostly write JavaScript in this course, but it helps to recognise the other two.
